Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung expressed this view during a meeting with the Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, on March 12.
“In the time ahead, Hanoi will continue to closely coordinate with Vientiane to realize agreements between the high-level leaders of both Parties, states, and agreements between the two capitals,” Dung said.
At the meeting, he reaffirmed that the continued strengthening and development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship are among the strategic tasks critical to the security and development of both nations.

According to Dung, the Vietnamese Party, State, and people deeply appreciate the immense, precious, and effective support and assistance that the Lao Party, State, and people have provided to Vietnam in the past in the struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as in the current renovation, construction, and defense of the Fatherland.
In 2024 and in the years to come, both parties and countries need to continue to build on the achievements attained and uphold the spirit of independence, self-reliance, and self-sufficiency, with Vietnam-Laos solidarity and cooperation being the foremost priority and a matter of existential significance, he noted.
“The focus should be on enhancing the effectiveness of implementation and expanding proactive and innovative cooperation to ensure that the solidarity and cooperation between the two parties and states remain a vital foundation and a reliable source of strength for the national renewal and development of Vietnam and Laos,” Dung suggested.

He expected both sides to continue to deepen political relations, serving as the core direction of the overall bilateral relationship, strengthening pillars of cooperation in defense, security, and foreign affairs, and promoting improved economic, cultural, educational, healthcare, scientific, and technological cooperation based on each country's potential. Additionally, Vietnam and Laos should expand cooperation between the localities of the two countries.
On the occasion, Dung briefed the Lao leader on the development of Hanoi and the positive outcomes of the high-level delegation meeting between the two capitals held on the same day.
Sisoulith appreciated and acknowledged the significance of the delegation's visit and the positive outcomes of the meeting between the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and his Vientiane counterpart Anouphap Tounalom.
He also valued the fruitful cooperation between the two capitals, especially the very practical support from Hanoi to Vientiane.
Sisoulith shared that he has deep memories of Hanoi and always carries feelings in his heart for the sister capital of Vietnam. He suggested that Hanoi should continue to implement new, practical, and effective cooperation initiatives with Lao localities.
The Lao President hoped Hanoi would actively share its experience in Party and political system building, and other areas with Lao localities. He also expressed confidence that the two capitals will continue to make the Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation more substantial and effective, contributing to nurturing the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
