Hanoi is expected to organize 60 major trade promotion events this year, including one-sixth abroad.

The Hanoi Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (IDC Hanoi) will be tasked to implement the city's industrial promotion plan in the coming months, the center’s Director Hoang Minh Lam said.

The typical event is the Hanoi Giftshow 2024, which will feature handicrafts and gifts along with a design competition for handicraft products.

Additionally, IDC Hanoi will host an exhibition of innovative handicraft designs and specialized exhibitions at the One Commune One Product (OCOP) display center, highlighting the capital's artisanal products.

The center will facilitate local businesses' participation in the International Fair of Handicrafts, Wood Products, and Gifts (Lifestyle 2024) in Ho Chi Minh City.

“IDC Hanoi plans to support the building of rural industrial products' trademarks through promoting OCOP products in tour services with a focus on sustainable production,” he told VGP News.

In the first half of this year, the IDC Hanoi partnered with the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade to issue 13 documents aimed at enhancing rural industrial development with various activities designed to promote the sector.

One notable event was the Hanoi Great Souvenirs 2024 fair held from April 25 to 28 at the Hanoi Museum.

Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said this fair provided a platform for industry associations, businesses, and rural artisans to showcase and promote handicraft souvenirs that reflect the cultural heritage of Hanoi’s traditional craft villages.

The fair also facilitated networking among rural industrial enterprises, fueling the production and consumption of rural goods.

Another event was a fair of exceptional industrial products from northern rural areas that took place on May 16-19 at the National Architecture and Construction Exhibition Center in Hanoi. This event aimed to strengthen inter-provincial connections and foster growth in industry, commerce, and tourism across Hanoi and the northern region.

In June, the OCOP display center in Ha Dong District hosted an exhibition featuring handicrafts, OCOP products, and rural industrial items, including lacquer, mother-of-pearl inlay, and wood carving. The exhibition sought to enhance collaboration among designers, artisans, manufacturers, distributors, and consumers while showcasing products from traditional craft villages.

These activities highlight the commitment of IDC Hanoi and the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade to promote rural industry, support local artisans, and contribute to the local economy.

Nguyen Dinh Thang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, meanwhile highlighted the role of the state budget, saying it encourages businesses and rural facilities to invest in production.

Hanoi targets an annual growth of 6-8% in handicraft exports. In 2024. the city expects to create 650-800 new designs for both domestic and international markets.

“Additionally, the plan seeks to support 600-650 businesses to participate in trade fairs and 10-15 facilities to equip modern production models while improving management skills of 2,000-2,500 leaders and managers in the rural industrial sector," Thang said.

According to the recent trade promotion plan for 2024, Hanoi is expected to organize 60 major trade promotion events, including ten abroad.
