Hanoi to set up professional tree management unit
It is necessary to set up a specialized company on tree management and bring Hanoi’s entire tree system under supervision by 3D technology.
This direction was issued by Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung, who set the target of planting 1 million trees in 2016-2020.
In addition, the Capital will set up a green park maintenance company with a specialized nursery, like Singapore or Kunming (China).
This company will be responsible for researching new plant varieties and flowers. At the same time, it will look into options to plant non-indigenous flowers and trees that suit Hanoi’s climate condition.
Chairman Chung said that the company will co-operate with the Department of Construction as well as the Management Board of water supply and environmental projects to build a nursery in Dan Phuong district of Hanoi.
Chung also noted that it is necessary to build a specialized department of tree management as soon as possible. The company needs to research 3D technology and bring Hanoi’s whole management system of green trees into the network.
Moreover, the plantation of the trees must be professionalized by setting up specialised agency in soil and fertilizer for each type of tree.
Chairman Chung specifically noted the need to carry out a survey and design work on planting new trees.
Specific soil types also need to be studied so that the plantation areas can yield the best results. "The specialized staff must be trained in all cultivation techniques," Chung said.
Chung aims to turn Hanoi into a green haven on par with any city in the world. However, the budget for this work is limited. Chung said that Hanoi’s park maintenance company needs to tap into international experience and should urgently join the World Tree Association to access advanced technology.
