The announcement was made by Truong Viet Dung, Head of the Hanoi People's Committee Office.
Two venues are being considered for this unique light and sound spectacle: My Dinh National Stadium in Nam Tu Liem District and the iconic West Lake in Tay Ho District, the official said.
He added that the city will spend an estimated VND29 billion (US$1.1 million) to host the drone light show and fireworks, with funding from private sources and businesses.
The artistic show will be staged from 11:00 pm to 11:30 pm on the night of February 9, before a spectacular fireworks display at 32 venues across Hanoi. It will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and across media platforms.
"This marks a new and significant highlight for Hanoi, aiming to create a festive atmosphere to celebrate the city's socio-economic achievements in 2023 and welcome the new year of 2024 with renewed energy," Dung stressed.
