Hanoi to put Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway into operation by late 2016

At the signing ceremony held in February 13, leaders of the Ministry of Transport and the main contractor China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd promised to officially put the Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project into operation at the end of 2016.
The Ministry of Transport organised a ceremony in Hanoi on February 13 to launch its emulation completing the Cat Linh-Ha Dong railway project, Hanoi's elevated rail project.
The 13-kilometer line will link Cat Linh street to Yen Nghia bus station in Ha Dong district.
At the event, the Railway Project Management Unit (PMU), the investor, and the main contractor China Railway Sixth Group Co. Ltd signed an agreement promising to meet the deadline with the first train scheduled to run by the end of 2016.
General Director of the Railway PMU under the Transport Ministry Le Kim Thanh said the Cat Linh-Ha Dong project, which started construction from October 2011, will basically complete stations (except Cat Linh station) in June this year.

The construction and installation of equipments of the project will be finished in September, is scheduled to put in trial in early October and in late 2016, Cat Linh-Ha Dong urban railway will be officially put into commercial exploitation, Thanh added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Transport Minister Nguyen Hong Truong said, the project plays a very important role to Hanoi's traffic because it is the city's first urban railway.
The project has received the close cooperation from Hanoi's relevant units in working on clearance and project progress as well as ensuring traffic safety, he said.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hong Truong stated that 70% of the construction work for the Cat Linh-Ha Dong project has been completed, 30% of the remaining is extremely heavy.
During the ceremony, the Chinese main contractor and subcontractors were asked to strengthen machines for the project's implementation and prolong construction time in order to meet the new finish date at the end of 2016.
