The event is organized by the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distributing under the Ministry of Information and Comunications in coordination with the Vietnam Publishing Association. The annual event aims to promote the reading culture as well as to connect publishers and communications agencies in order to publish books.
Accordingly, various talk shows introducing new books and workshops on current cultural, political and historical issues explored in books will take place at the site during the fair. In addition, copyright transactions, exchanges between writers, publishers and readers and games for children will be key activities at the event.
The event has been held twice annually since 2013 with the aim to foster the joy of reading, boosting book copyright transactions and international cooperation in the field.
In 2016, the Autumn Book Fair attracted the participation of 60 publishing distribution, postal, education and training units with approximately 70 stalls. Accordingly, the highlight of the Autumn Book Fair in 2016 was online books.
The online book area introduced the most recent online book editions and an online trading forum of publishing houses and distribution units. In addition, visitors to the book fair had the opportunity to use free applications for digital books.
Earlier, 28 students in Hanoi were honored as being “Ambassadors of Reading Culture” during the 2017 - 2018 school year. The contest, the second of its kind, was launched by the city’s departments of Education and Training, Communication and Education, and Culture and Sports with the aim of promoting the habit of reading among students.
