The 25th South East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Association Conference (SEAPAVAA) is scheduled to take place from Hanoi combining face-to face and virtual formats from June 20-26, 2021.

Under the 25th SEAPAVAA framework, a conference themed “Audio Visual Archiving in changing time: Successes, Failures, and Challenges” would be organized in two days between June 23 and 24, focusing on theoretical and practical issues of audio visual archive in the film industry.
Lydia Tang, a special collection archivist at Michigan State University, would be the guest speaker at the conference, along with representatives of 33 film and archive associations from 23 countries and territories as members of the SEAPAVAA.
Other key event is the SEAPAVAA’s 25th General Assembly to revise the association’s charter and recruit new members.
Before and during the conference, Vietnam would take this opportunity to present the achievements of its film industry, as well as tourism potential to international friends.
A Vietnamese and International Films Week would take place from June 21-25 at Ngoc Khanh Cinema and Vietnam Film Institute, in which a number of Vietnamese movies would be introduced to members of the SEAPAVAA.
Meanwhile, a Vietnamese Film Exhibition would be opened for visitors from June 21-24 at Ngoc Khanh cinema, which showcases 50-70 film posters and pictures of famous filming locations in Vietnamese motion pictures; technologies and equipment; film archive activities in Vietnam to preserve local cultural-heritage values.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, all events would be held under strict measures against Covid-19 as instructed by the Ministry of Health.
The Southeast Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archives Association was legally constituted and launched in Manila, the Philippines in February 1996, with the aim to promote the development of film/video archiving in the region.
To date, the association gathers almost 100 member archives, institutions and professionals from 32 countries and territories across the world.
