At the meeting, representatives have exchanged and discussed way of connection and promoting trade between producers, suppliers with distribution channels for economic development. As of present, the Hanoi Department of Industry & Trade has cooperated with provinces/cities to organize Weeks of Safe product recognition and specialties in provinces, thus supporting enterprises in provinces to introduce agricultural products, vegetable and specialties to Hanoi’s customers.

In particular, the Hanoi Department of Industry & Trade has organized the event promoting trade between Hanoi and provinces/cities within the Hanoi Vietnamese Goods Fair 2017, with the participation of 27 distributors and super markets in Hanoi in connection with 80 suppliers and producers in 25 provinces/cities, resulting in 80 signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) on product consumption.

Despite the connection activity has helped enterprises to be in control of the quantity production and the consumption market especially for seasonal products. However, there remains difficulties in the process of taking these products into the modern distribution channel. Director of Dong Thap Industry & Trade Department Nguyen Huu Dung said, in previous time, the cooperation between Hanoi’s enterprises and other provinces are inefficient, especially for seasonal products, which is in need of consumption in short time.

The Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) has organized the event promoting trade and agricultural products consumption between Hanoi and Lam Dong, thus creating opportunities for enterprises in Lam Dong to introduce its specialties to distributors in Hanoi. Especially, HPA and Hanoi’s retailers have supported enterprises in provinces/cities to improve their packaging and design to meet requirements, developing e-stamp or QR code for 2 categories of goods with origins from provinces/cities to be sold in Hanoi market in modern retailing systems. At the same time, through trade promotion, HPA has created opportunities for enterprises introducing their specialties and products into foreign distribution channels such as Aeon (Japan); Central Group (Thailand); Coop and Conad (Italia).

Meanwhile, retailers and distributors request the administrative agencies to support enterprises, in turn timely deal with difficulties and obstacles; review and finalize supporting policies for enterprises in terms of providing information, promoting trade, brand building and pushing forward with production of Vietnamese goods. Besides, Hanoi also needs to improve trade infrastructure development to ensure sustainable distribution channels, which create favorable conditions for goods from provinces to access distribution channels in Hanoi. This activity is not only the cooperation between manufacturers and retailers, but also a way for customers to raise awareness and protect Vietnamese goods against the pressure from imported goods, fake and smuggled products.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan said, the event connecting supply – demand has contributed significantly to the improvement in relationship between Hanoi and provinces/cities in Vietnam. Many provinces/cities have proposed event promoting products consumption, as such enterprises can actively provide products to market and meet consumption demand of customers.
