Hanoi to added 300,000 cubic metres of clean water a day by 2020
Director of Hanoi Department of Construction Le Van Duc said at the press conference held on October 27 that the Red River water plant project is expected to start in the fourth quarter of this year and become operational in the first quarter of 2021.
Hanoi is set to invest nearly 3,700 biillion VND on the construction of a new water plant using surface water from the Hong (Red) River in Lien Hong commune, Dan Phuong district to meet the increasing demand for clean water in the city.
The project is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2015 and become operational in the first quarter of 2021.
The 20.5 hectare plant is expected to provide 150,000 cubic metres of clean water a day in the first phase of its construction (2015-2018). The second stage is scheduled to be finished by 2020 and will raise the capacity to 300,000 cubic metres of clean water a day.
According to Director of Hanoi Department of Construction Le Van Duc, once in use, the Red River water plant plant will supply water for three suburban districts in west Hanoi and at least four inner-city districts, including Nam Tu Liem and Bac Tu Liem.
The plant’s technology line is designed to ensure water treatment during both dry and flood seasons.
