Hanoi’s Department of Health requires officials, employees and workers to actively participate in activities to respond to World TB Prevention Day on March 24, 2019.
The day is held annually to raise people's awareness of tuberculosis. This year, the World Health Organization (WHO) calls on authorities, affected communities, civil social organizations, healthcare providers, domestic and international partners to act on the banner of "Searching and treating all TB patients" so that no one is left behind.
Previously, on February 21, 2019, the National Lung Hospital - the National Program against TB had instructed provinces and cities to organize a campaign to respond to the day.
It aims to mobilize the participation of both political system and entire people in order to successfully implement the national strategy for preventing and controlling TB by 2020 with the vision to 2030 and the fundamental objectives to end TB in 2030.
Besides, the campaign raises people’s awareness, especially those with high-risk behaviors and people living in remote areas, ethnic minorities with TB and other diseases. It also contributes to reducing stigma and discrimination against people with TB, strengthens prevention, diagnosis, detection, care, support and treatment for people with TB.
