Hanoi strives to put into use online traffic map
Hanoi`s online traffic map is targeted at managing, operating and regulating traffic in the city, as well as apply information technology in managing and optimizing parking lots.
In the last six months of 2019, the Hanoi People's Committee aims to put the online digital traffic map into operation.
The map is targeted at managing, operating and regulating traffic in the city, as well as apply information technology in managing and optimizing parking lots.
The Hanoi Department of Transport is also researching the application of data terminal equipment to ensure the effectiveness of smart transport connections among management agencies, businesses and people.
Besides, the city’s Department of Transport will arrange bus stops and interchanges to connect public transport with parking lots.
According to a report by the Hanoi People's Committee, the city’s authority has applied measures to reduce congestion points to 41 in 2016, 37 in 2017 and 33 in 2018.
Hanoi’s public passenger transport has developed. The bus network has covered 30 districts, mainly concentrated residential areas, industrial parks and new urban areas. By the end of 2018, the city’s public transport met 14.45% of people’s travel demand, compared to 13.78% in 2017.
Besides, construction of transport infrastructure has continued. In particular, in the period of 2017-2018, 291 traffic works were completed, land reserved for transport reached 9.38% (9.2% in 2017), 62 traffic intersections were reorganized, transport infrastructure is maintained regularly by modern technology (GOVONE software) to ensures traffic safety.
The work of ensuring traffic safety and preventing traffic accidents has attained good results as road accidents have decreased on all three criteria: number of cases, number of deaths and number of injuries.
In the first six months of 2019, the city also worked out road transport planning, especially plan for public transport vehicles such as buses, taxis, among others.
