The program, running from October 28 to November 3, includes 133 booths displaying  "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) crafts. In addition, an award ceremony will be held to honor businesses that have achieved the title of sustainable production and consumption.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Hoang Minh Lam, Director of the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consultancy under the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that Hanoi has 47 traditional trades out of a total of 52 in the country.  Of the 1,350 handicraft villages, 305 have been recognized as craft villages and traditional craft villages by the municipal People's Committee.

"In recent years, Hanoi's handicrafts have been exported to demanding markets such as Japan, the US, the EU, Dubai, and some Asian and Southeast Asian countries. This week is part of a series of activities under the National Action Program on Sustainable Production and Consumption for 2021-2030 launched by the Ministry of Industry and Trade," Lam said.

He added that through the week, Hanoi's industry and trade sector seeks to promote artisan production and foster sustainable and stable development of craft villages.

"The department will also support artisan workshops of OCOP products such as embroidery, ceramics, rattan, silk, carpentry and food processing, among others, to improve product quality, facilitate sustainable linkages to effectively utilize resources, minimize waste generation, promote circular economy and sustainable development," Lam stressed.

The official emphasized that the week is a commitment by the Hanoi government to proactively support and facilitate businesses to address difficulties in production and trading activities.
