Hanoi nominated as World’s Leading City Destination in “Oscar” award for travel
Vietnam’s travel industry has been thriving in the past few years. The number of foreign arrivals to Vietnam stood at 15.5 million in 2018, nearly double 7.9 million for 2015.
Hanoi has been nominated as one of the World’s Leading City Destination in the annual prestigious World Travel Award 2019 (WTA), which is considered the “Oscar” in the world tourism.
Besides, Vietnam also has five nominations for other five titles of the WTA 2019 including World’s Leading Destination, Culinary Destination, Cultural Destination, World's Leading Cultural City Destination for Hoi An town and World's Leading Tourist Board for the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
According to the National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam’s travel industry has been thriving in the past few years. The number of foreign arrivals to Vietnam stood at 15.5 million in 2018, nearly double 7.9 million for 2015.
The average growth rate of the tourism sector is around 25% annually, which is among the top in the world according to the annual review of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The nominations will help Vietnam further promote its tourism potential as well as showing that Vietnam’s tourism is increasingly spotlighted in the world travel map with rich natural, cultural and culinary values.
This year, the award ceremony for Asian region is slated to take place on October 12 in Phu Quoc island of Kien Giang province while the international recognition ceremony will be held in Muscat, Oman in November.
