Hanoi National University o­n March 29 awarded an honorary doctorate to Professor John A. Quelch, o­ne of the world’s top ten influential marketing experts, in honour of his outstanding contributions to marketing and to the university.

Born in London , Prof. John A. Quelch is Dean of the China-Europe International Business School . He was previously Senior Associate Dean of Harvard Business School , teaching marketing to senior executives in the Advanced Management Programme.

The professor made his first visit to Vietnam in early 2005 and has returned every year since then.

He had met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan. He also shared his experience and marketing case studies with Vietnamese executives at seminars hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He was among advisors providing accurate methodology and transparent processes for rating Vietnam ’s 500 largest businesses since 2007.

During the visit to Vietnam from March 28-30, Prof. Quelch gave a lecture o­n marketing strategy in the period of recession and during the 21 st century.
