Besides, at other national and international competitions, Hanoi’s students also attained 197 prizes and medals, three team trophies, 23 individual medals, Tien cited.

He said in the school year of 2018-2019, Hanoi has 2,713 schools with 1.9 million students, an increase of 72 schools and more than 100,000 students over the last academic year.

Speaking at the ceremony Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy emphasized that in recent years, Hanoi has actively built and implemented many mechanisms and policies to promote the capital’s education and training.

The vice chairman especially praised students who still managed to achieve excellent academic results in spite of being needy.

Quy recommended the capital’s education and training sector to keep implementing education reform, giving priority to fostering national and international excellent students, improving the mass quality, and removing the disparity in education quality among areas in the city.

Besides, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training should continue to promote information technology application in teaching-learning methods and building electronic schools, focus on teaching foreign languages, especially English, create equal opportunities for education access for poor children in remote areas, Quy stressed.
