Hanoi invests US$223.6 million to renovate 407 schools
Hanoi has built 67 new schools with a total budget of about VND3,900 billion (US$167.7 million), including 34 newly-founded ones, bringing the number of schools of all levels citywide to 2,746.
Hanoi has renovated 407 schools with an investment of US$223.6 million in preparation for the 2019-2020 academic year, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Chu Xuan Dung said at a meeting held by the Hanoi People's Committee on September 3.
Accordingly, the city has built 67 new schools with a total budget of about VND3,900 billion (US$167.7 million), including 34 newly-founded ones, bringing the number of schools of all levels citywide to 2,746 for two million students, an increase of 40,000 students compared to the previous school year.
In particular, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a review of the 2018-2019 school year and implemented tasks for the 2019-2020 academic year where safety and healthcare for students will be paid special attention to.
The department requires schools to seriously review and enhance safety for students, especially kid transportation.
Besides, the department also requested schools to manage revenues and expenditures in accordance with regulations, make public its hotline and those of education and training divisions of districts and towns for parents to report on cases of incorrect revenue and expenditure, if any.
According to the plan, the opening ceremony of 2019-2020 academic year in Hanoi city will be held in the morning of September 5, 2019 (from 7:30 to 8:30).
