Hosted by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the event was held at the historic and cultural Hoan Kiem Lake to promote Hanoi as a city of culture, civilization, modernization and peace.
It also aimed to promote cycling in urban areas to improve people's health and protect the environment. It was also an opportunity to respond to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and to showcase Hanoi's resilience and determination to fulfill its commitments on climate change adaptation and environmental protection.
Nguyen Ngoc Ky, Chairman of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, said that as a capital city, Hanoi must take the lead in environmental protection.
"We hope the cycling event will strengthen ties between Hanoi and international friends in all fields, especially environmental protection," he said.
Denny Abdi, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam, said the event is one of the good activities Hanoi is hosting to foster the city's friendship and cooperation with others in the world.
He expected that the program will contribute to encouraging people to use smoke-free vehicles and develop a green living standard, thus strengthening measures to better protect the environment.
At the event, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations handed over 10 bicycles to the students who have overcome difficulties and achieved good academic performance.
The gifts are expected to provide better learning conditions for the students, enabling them to obtain even better results in school.
