At the events, officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Planning and Investment provided participants, including representatives of travel and industrial businesses, with information about Vietnam’s investment climate in tourism, trade and industry. The forum and another on investment partnership between the two countries were organised by the Vietnamese Embassy and the administration of Kanagawa prefecture.

They also popularised Vietnam’s images to the local enterprises and people, noting a surge in the number of foreign tourists to Vietnam, from 3.5 million in 2005 to about 8 million in 2015, including nearly 671,400 Japanese. Meanwhile, officials of Hanoi introduced localities’ advantages and potential, along with incentives for Japanese firms to do investment.

Representatives of Kanagawa said Kanagawa will create the best possible conditions for its businesses to invest in Vietnam, especially in the prefecture’s industrial parks. These firms will be supported both before and after becoming operational in the Southeast Asian nation.

In October alone, Vietnam welcomed 812,000 foreign vacationers, up 23.3 percent against the same period last year. The tourism sector grossed 331.5 trillion VND (14.4 billion USD) in the 10-month period in 2016, a yearly increase of 19.1 percent.

According to the report of the Hanoi Tourism Department, in the first 10 months of this year, the city welcomed more than 2.8 million international tourists, up 25% over the same period last year. International tourists to Hanoi reached more than 2.8 million passengers, up 25% over the same period last year.

In the first 10 months of 2016, the number of international travelers from Hanoi's main markets maintained a significant rise compared to the same period of 2015, especially tourists from Japan.

The number of Hanoi's international tourists accounted for 41% of the total number of the country's foreign visitors (more than 7.26 million arrivals) in the first 8 months of  2016, and made up 39% of the total number of international visitors in Vietnam in three quarters of 2016.
