Many of this year's valedictorians are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam and also examples of self-improvement, and winners of national and international scientific awards.
At the ceremony, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong stressed talents are national resources, especially in Hanoi, one of the largest academic hubs in the country.
The valedictorians honored today are representatives of millions of students in Hanoi. They are the precious assets of the capital and the country, he stressed.
“The tradition of study and appreciation for learning has always been promoted and preserved over the historical periods of Hanoi,” said Phong.
According to Phong, Hanoi in particular, and Vietnam in general, are entering a new stage of development, so the capital continues to exert its growing influence as the country's political-administrative hub, a major center in the economy, culture, education, science-technology, and global integration.
“Such status and success are thanks to the effective utilization of cultural and human resources for socio-economic development,” Phong said.
Phong added for over 20 years since 2003, Hanoi has honored 2,067 valedictorians from universities and colleges in the city.
"Many have made positive contributions in different aspects of life, which shows that the city's recognitions of outstanding students have served as an encouragement to young people in study and training," Phong added.

The Deputy Hanoi Party chief referred to the resolution of the 13th Party congress that identifies the necessity to improve the quality of human resources and create breakthrough mechanisms to attract talents in innovation, science, and technology development and effectively utilize them.
“This is essential for Vietnam to continue its rapid development in the coming time and realize the development goals set for 2030, with a vision to 2045,” he continued.
In line with the resolution of the 13th Party congress, the 17th Hanoi Party Congress has also considered a high-quality workforce as a key solution for development.
“A focus on cultural and human development would be decisive for Hanoi’s sustainable development,” Phong said.
With the commendation ceremony taking place on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers’ day (November 20, 1982 – November 20, 2022), Phong expressed his appreciation for the dedication of teachers and the support of universities and colleges.
They are invaluable motivation to motivate all of you to overcome any difficulty and achieve the valedictorian title.

Valedictorians to set an example for Hanoi’s youth
According to Phong, Hanoi is in the next phase of development with huge expectations. The resolution N.15 of the Politburo on the objectives for Hanoi’s development until 2030, with a vision to 2045, expected the city to become a global city by 2045 with high living standards based on comprehensive economic, social and cultural development.
Hanoi by that time would be in similar development levels to the capitals of developed countries in the region and the world.
In this context, Phong hopes that today's valedictorians and young people have the responsibility to realize these ambitious goals, adding that all valedictorians have to be an example for others to follow.
“A living example is more valuable than hundreds of speeches,” he added.
On behalf of the valedictorians present at the ceremony, Nguyen Khanh Linh from the Academy of Journalism & Communication expressed her thanks to the authorities, teachers, and parents for the utmost support during their academic life.
Linh expected that today's young people, with enthusiasm and knowledge, will take a pioneering role in promoting socio-economic development and contribute to realizing the city's desire for innovation and development.
On this occasion, Linh called for more support from the Party and the Government for youth and to create a favorable environment for young talents to contribute to the development of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
