Out of a total of 97,600 ideas, 800 were submitted to the Hanoi Labor Federation for review and 100 were selected as the best.
Many employee initiatives have been brought to fruition, with high economic returns, cost savings for companies, and a positive impact on social welfare.
Nguyen Ngoc Ha of Canon Vietnam, one of the 100 people who received awards from Hanoi authorities, said the company's union and management often organize competitions and training sessions to improve workers' skills and knowledge.
Ha and her colleagues have come up with solutions to reduce employee workload, improve accuracy, and reduce work hours.
They also work with the parent company to introduce cost-saving innovations that help Canon develop and deliver high-quality products to customers at the lowest cost.
These improvements have saved the company hundreds of billions of dong and significantly improved production efficiency, she said.
For years, Nguyen Van Hien, Technical Director of Xuan Hoa Vietnam, has been looking for new ideas to improve production and save the company billions of dong.
The initiatives are designed to reduce production time and costs while improving product quality, increasing labor productivity, and ensuring the stability and efficiency of production lines, he said.
The ideas of Nguyen Thi Nguyen, an employee of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Vietnam, save about VND2.4 billion ($97 million) every year.
Her recommendation to improve the automated management software cuts out unnecessary steps and reduces the daily operation time from one hour and 45 minutes to just 15 minutes, she said.
"Automation saves printing and paper costs, and solidifies the efficiency of product management and distribution," Nguyen said.
Another of her ideas was applied to improve U-Wavepak's automated measurement and fixture data storage software.
The innovation not only automates the measurement process, but also provides alerts when data falls outside the standard, improving both accuracy and processing speed, she said.
A growing movement for 30 years
The movement has gained widespread traction and proven to be practically beneficial for almost thirty years, particularly in the commercial and industrial sectors.

The program remains important and has the full support of local authorities, unions, business owners and workers throughout the capital.
The movement has made significant progress in both quality and quantity and has spread to all sectors, said Le Dinh Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Labor Federation, at a conference on October 2 to praise the initiatives of local workers and civil servants.
Many technical solutions and scientific and technological advances have been applied to help enterprises overcome difficulties, maintain production, increase labor productivity and enhance competitiveness, he said.
By implementing the ideas, the companies have improved working conditions, reduced accidents at work and prevented occupational diseases, thus boosting production and improving social welfare in the capital, he said.
"Through the program, many managers, scientists and workers have received recognition for their innovations," said Vice Chairman Hung.
"Workers' innovations contribute significantly to the competitiveness of enterprises in domestic and international markets," he added.
According to Thai Thu Xuong, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, despite the challenges of 2024, Hanoi's businesses and workers have remained resilient to achieve remarkable success.
In particular, the program that recognizes workers and enterprises for innovative moves has flourished, attracting proactive participation from civil servants and workers, she said.
Xuong also praised workers and public servants for their unique ideas and practical solutions that boost business operations and credited local workers for contributing to the city's growth.
Hanoi honors 10 businesses with good employment policies in 2024 On October 2, the Hanoi Labor Federation honored the top 10 local enterprises with good employment policies in 2024. The event was part of a series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day (October 13, 2004 - October 13, 2024).
