Hanoi held ‘Warm Spring’ to the poor
An art program entitled ‘Warm Spring’ was yesterday held in Hanoi to call on joint efforts from the whole community to bring a warm and happy Tet festival to underprivileged people nationwide.
The event, co-hosted by the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper’s Television Channel and the Vietnam Red Cross Society, saw the attendance of Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Commission for Mass Mobilisation; and Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of Hanoi Party Central Committee.
It also saw the presence of PCC member and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; and Thuan Huu, PCC member, Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of PCC Commission for Communication and Education, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association.
During the programme, the organising board presented 50 Tet gifts to school children from poor households, as well as families of policy beneficiaries and the families of Agent Orange/ Dioxin victims across the country.
Five social houses were handed over to residents in flood-hit areas in the mountainous northern region on the occasion.
The event also featured songs and dances about spring, the land and people performed by popular Vietnamese singers and artists.
Addressing the event, Nhan Dan Newspaper's Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Director of Nhan Dan TV Dinh Nhu Hoan expressed his pleasure that, under the care of Party and State, charity and humanitarian activities have received enthusiastic participation from ministries, sectors, organisations and individuals at both home and abroad, contributing to strengthening the solidarity in the community.
He expressed his hope that the event would help the poor to celebrate a lunar New Year full of joy and compassion.
