Vietnam and the UK have achieved impressive cooperation results in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, and tourism in recent years.

Hanoi hopes the UK will strengthen cooperation and share its experiences in the use of clean energy, said Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung in the meeting with British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward, who came to say goodbye before ending his tenure in Vietnam, in the capital city on July 1.

Dung said the city is planning to promote the use of clean energy, which is seen as an effective solution for protecting the environment and combating climate change.

He highly appreciated the relationship between Vietnam and the UK in recent years. Despite being heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the two sides have still achieved impressive cooperation results in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, culture, and tourism, deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

In the past two years, with the efforts of the Party, Government, and people, Vietnam has overcome many difficulties caused by the pandemic. More than 90% of the people in the capital have been vaccinated with the 3rd dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The city is deploying the 4th injection for people.

According to statistics, Hanoi's economic growth reached 7.79% in the first 6 months of this year. It is expected to achieve the set growth target of 7%-7.5% by the end of this year.

Ambassador Gareth Ward expressed his delight at the good relationship between the two countries. Although the Covid-19 pandemic has changed some cooperation plans, he believes that Vietnam and the UK will quickly promote cooperation in potential fields such as education, travel, and healthcare in the coming time.

He also thanked Hanoi's leaders for their support during his last working term. He said he hoped the city will continue to coordinate and support the UK's upcoming activities, especially in 2023 when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.
