Currently, the majority of agricultural products in Hanoi are distributed through wholesale and traditional markets. The rest is sold in supermarkets, businesses, specialized stores and convenience stores.
Establishing a network of farm produce supply centers will help Hanoi enhance the distribution of such goods in the city, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Van Suu said at a workshop held on May 28.

At the workshop, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Suu emphasized Hanoi consumes large amounts of farm produce annually, about 890,000 tons of rice, 139,000 tons of pork, 42,000 tons of chicken meat, 900 million eggs of all kinds, 54,000 tons of fresh and processed seafood, and 900,000 tons of vegetables of all kinds.

Currently, the majority of agricultural products in Hanoi is distributed through wholesale and wet markets. The rest is sold in supermarkets, businesses, specialized stores and convenience stores, Suu added.

He noted that in face of Hanoi’s current farm produce distribution system, developing a network of modern agricultural supply centers is necessary to ensure food safety. Besides, the system will meet the requirements for higher quality products, traceability and facilitate the procurement of farm produce for export.

The network will also create a stable consumption channel for local agricultural products that meet domestic and international standards. Moreover, it will promote the development of safe food safety markets, improve quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products, Suu stressed.
