Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam attended the third Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum (VCSF 2016), which opened in Hanoi on November 8.
The VCSF 2016 was held by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development under the VCCI in conjunction with the British Council in Vietnam.
The forum focused on the importance of creativeness for realising sustainable development goals.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam emphasised the significance of the event, saying that it helps foster connectivity among public and private sectors, social organisations and the community.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that through the forum, many initiatives to improve business climate in Vietnam and speed up Vietnamese business community sustainable development have been submitted to the Government.
In order to implement this target, the Government will create a broad and convenient business climate for enterprises to operate the most effectively, Dam stated.
Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc stressed the need to devise sustainable development orientations, adding that they play a decisive role in the success of the business community.
Sustainable development is the only way for all enterprises to follow, the VCCI Chairman noted.
Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha appreciated the agenda and initiatives proposed at the forum, which called the involvement of the business community in economically using energy, in order to reduce emission and effectively adapt to climate change.
Minister Ha presented the country’s plan to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, describing it as strategic orientations to thoroughly solve issues concerning climate change in the next decades.
The plan also shows Vietnam’s responsibility in addressing major challenges that threaten the humankind, he added.
