Hanoi is adorning its streets in the lead-up to the 76th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2021).

As usual, until September 5, Hanoi’s streets will be adorned with national flags, colorful flowers, banners, and slogans to celebrate the most important anniversaries of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

Clusters of large-format posters and panels bearing messages to hearten people in the Covid-19 fight and praise the August Revolution and National Day will be hung at the main premises of the city such as the intersection of Cat Linh and Giang Vo Streets; intersection of Tran Nhan Tong and Ba Trieu Streets; Flower Gardens and Squares in Ba Dinh and Hoan Kiem districts; and traffic islands in front Hanoi Opera House and State Bank.

Single panels and billboards themed the Covid-19 fight, the August Revolution, the National Day, President Ho Chi Minh, and General Vo Nguyen Giap will be hung at the public buildings.

In addition, artistic lighting will be installed at 12 main roads and arterial avenues of the capital such as Phan Dinh Phung Street, Dien Bien Phu Street, Pham Hung Street, and Thang Long Avenue, among others.

The large artistic lighting archways will be installed at five major locations in the city, including Vo Chi Cong Street; August Revolution Square; traffic islands in front of the State Bank, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace.

A photo exhibition to disseminate on the Independence and August Revolution will be held at the Hanoi Exhibition Information Center (No.89 Dinh Tien Hoang Street., Kiem District, Hanoi).

“This visual promotion campaign needs to be organized solemnly, in a thrifty manner, and effectively in accordance with the actual situation of the pandemic in the capital. Activities requiring large concentration are not allowed to be held to comply with  Covid-19 countermeasures,” the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports stated.

The funding for this urban embellishment will be sourced from the private sector.
