Speaking at the ceremony, Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, said: "The road project is crucial for connecting Hanoi and Hoa Binh in the capital region, contributing to socio-economic development and improving the livelihood of local people."
The project covers a total area of about 105.8 hectares with a total investment of VND5.2 trillion (US$213 million), including VND2 trillion (US$82 million) from the State budget.
The road has a length of 6.7 kilometers, starting at the intersection of Thang Long Boulevard Expressway and National Highway 21 in Thach Hoa Commune, Thach That District, and ending at the intersection of Lang Van Hoa Street in Yen Binh Commune, Thach That District, connecting to the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Road.
The project aims to contribute to the westward urbanization of Hanoi, meet the increasing traffic between the city center and the western region, and connect to the Ho Chi Minh Highway.
The project will also improve operating conditions, ensure traffic safety, connect the northwestern provinces to the city, create conditions for socio-economic development, security and defense, and serve as a driving force for the development of the Hoa Lac satellite urban area and the chain of satellite urban areas in the western region.
Tuan urged the contractors and consulting supervisors to develop a specific and detailed schedule, ensure compliance with the commitments in the signed contracts with investors, ensure the construction and supervision of the project to meet quality and technical requirements, strive to complete the work ahead of schedule, and ensure work safety, traffic safety, and environmental hygiene.
Thach That District authorities must effectively carry out land clearance and resettlement work to facilitate construction and ensure safety and order in the construction area, he stressed.
