The decision aims to protect health of Hanoians and tourists against the complicated spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. After the announcement, bookstores and cafes in the street have been shut down.

Many publishers and bookstores such as Kim Dong Publishing House, Phuong Nam bookstores, Nha Nam Culture and Media JSC have also informed readers about the suspension of activities in Hanoi Book Street.

At the same time, the publishers and bookstores have boosted their book selling online to offset the loss due to the closure of physical stores.
