Hanoi applies and develops information technology to build smart city
Hanoi will update the city`s e-government architecture in accordance with Vietnam’s e-government architecture framework (version 2.0).
Hanoi has applied information technology (IT) and developed applications with a view to building a sustainable smart city, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy stressed at a teleconference in Hanoi on July 23.
Quy said that in recent years, in strictly implementing the Vietnamese government’s guiding documents, Hanoi city has focused on applying IT and developing applications with e-government as its core.
Up to now, the city’s data center has been providing regular services to the people and government, which is using modern technology that meets international standards, Quy said, adding that IT technical infrastructure has been standardized to facilitate workflow over the internet and provide online public services and teleconferences.
The vice chairman cited that as of the third quarter of 2019, 584 communes and wards in the city will be readied in terms of IT for conducting teleconference at communal level.
Hanoi is also preparing to build a center for traffic control and crime prevention with security surveillance cameras installed in its streets, Quy said.
He added that Hanoi completed three out of six core management systems and databases for business, insurance and population.
Hanoi has applied IT in giving instructions, administration and services for people and businesses such as maintaining a document processing workflow which connects three levels of administration in the city.
Hanoi has also developed software to forecast flood, update air pollution and quality of West Lake’s water and smart parking, among others.
In the time ahead, Hanoi will update the city's e-government architecture in accordance with Vietnam’s e-government architecture framework (version 2.0) and focus on completing the information system and the remaining core database on land, finance and general statistics on population.
The city’s authority will develop the Hanoi smart operation center and some basic components of smart transport system, smart tourism system and other fields in accordance with the roadmap.
Hanoi also petitioned the ministries to speed up the construction and completion of the Vietnamese government’s national database and give priority to creating an e-government development platform.
