Australian Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski expressed his intention to continue supporting Vietnam's development, particularly Hanoi, upon returning to Australia. He also anticipated that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries would foster substantial and comprehensive relations between Hanoi and Australian localities.
The ambassador, whose term of duty in Vietnam is coming to an end, was speaking at a meeting with Hanoi Mayor Tran Sy Thanh in Hanoi on December 24 to discuss deepening cooperation between Hanoi and Australian localities.
Ambassador Goledzinowski thanked the city for its support during his tenure and highlighted the positive development of RMIT University in Hanoi. He expressed optimism for future cooperation, especially in education and investment.

Mayor Thanh reaffirmed Hanoi’s commitment to fostering a favorable investment environment for Australian businesses, particularly in infrastructure, telecommunications, finance, and education. He also emphasized the importance of reciprocal investment opportunities for Vietnamese businesses in Australia.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral relationship and looked forward to further strengthening cooperation in various fields.
The friendship and cooperation between Hanoi and Australia have continuously developed well over the years. Hanoi has been promoting cooperation activities and delegations at all levels with Australian localities, focusing on sharing experiences in urban planning, cultural exchange, education, and economic cooperation.
As of September 20, 2024, Australia's total investment in Hanoi reached US$803.78 million with 148 new projects, focusing on information and communication, processing and manufacturing industries, and healthcare. Australia has also provided grant assistance to two projects in Hanoi with a total capital of US$2.09 million to improve planning capacity. Hanoi's export turnover to Australia reached $35 million, while imports from Australia amounted to $448 million.
