Government asks to ensure traffic safety for the coming holidays
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a notice to call for public order and traffic safety during the upcoming national holidays in April.
The country is preparing for the national long holidays, including the Death Anniversary of the Hung Kings, which will fall on April 16 and last for three days, and the national Reunification Day and Labour Day, which will start on April 30 and last four days.
The notice was sent to the ministries of public securities, defence, transport, information and communications, the National Committee for Traffic Safety, Vietnam Television, and people’s committees of provinces and cities nationwide.
According to the document, the ministries and agencies were asked to provide information on traffic safety and accident prevention to media outlets, and encourage residents to travel by public vehicles, especially on highways.
Under the notice, the Government also required the ministries to more closely manage coaches, terminals, stations and airports to reduce traffic jams, delays and illegal price hikes for tickets.
Increased inspection and patrols should be held to strictly punish traffic regulation violators, especially those who directly cause traffic accidents, the document said.
Traffic infrastructure will be checked, including signals, warning signs and warning equipment in places that have a high risk for traffic accidents.
The Government asked commune-level people’s committees to take the responsibility of managing wharfs and tourism sites in the local areas.
