The reception was held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. After the greeting ceremony, Secretary Trong and President Biden arrived at the Office of the Party Central Committee for discussions.

President Biden’s Air Force One landed at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 4pm today (September 10).

President Biden visits Vietnam on September 10-11 as Vietnam and the US celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership (2013-2023).

According to Jake Sullivan, national security advisor to President Joe Biden, the President’s visit to Vietnam may drive the two nations’ relations and facilitate peace, prosperity, and stability for the Asia-Pacific.

The visit proves that the US Government highly appreciates the leadership of the Vietnamese Communist Party, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and the Vietnamese Government, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc told local media.

Vietnam and the US normalized their relations and began diplomatic relations in 1995. In July 2013, the two governments ratified the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership.

The two countries’ leaderships have made many State-level visits to each other to strengthen the cooperation in politics and diplomatics, economy, education, science and technology, and national defense and security.

Former US President Bill Clinton made his first visit to Vietnam in November 2000. Since then, Vietnam has received all US presidents, namely George W. Bush, Barrack Obama, and Donald Trump.
