Fulbright University Vietnam gets back proposal
The Government will provide all necessary support for the establishment of Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) which is due to open during the visit of US President Barack Obama to Vietnam in May this year .
In Hanoi on April 11, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang made the statement at a meeting with Thomas Vallely, chairman of the Trust for University Innovation in Vietnam (TUIV).
The Government assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to coordinate with other stakeholders to finalise the project and report back to him for a final decision. TUIV is a non-profit organisation established in the US. Thomas Vallely, who is Chairman of the organisation, is leading the effort to launch the new Fulbright University in Vietnam.
Vallely hoped that FUV and its field studies on Vietnam’s policy making in the future would pave the way for further development of Vietnam.
Vietnam aims to achieve rapid, sustainable development. Fulbright University is expected to foster education ties between Vietnam and the US, and contribute to increasing the quality of university education in Vietnam.
