French Carmen opera hits stage in HCM City

The full original version of "Carmen" was performed for the first time in Vietnam at the Saigon Opera House in Ho Chi Minh on July 1.
"Carmen", a story of love, jealousy and freedom, was written by French composer Georges Bizet.
On Vietnamese stage, there were soloists from Vietnam, France, Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
Vietnamese mezzo-soprano Thanh Huyen starred as Carmen and French tenor Patrick Garayt as Don Jose.
The show is part of a cultural exchange project launched by the French Institute in HCM City, in cooperation with the International Choir and Orchestra of HCM City and Lys Event Company.
