French Ambassador pledges support for Vietnam even after end of his term

French diplomat Nicolas Warnery took over the post of the French ambassador to Vietnam on September 5, 2019.

The French Ambassador to Vietnam, Nicolas Warnery, pledged on July 27 to continue his support for Hanoi and Vietnam after his term in office.

Nicolas took up his post as French ambassador to Vietnam on September 5, 2019.

During the meeting with Duong Duc Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, the French official agreed to develop decentralized cooperation between Hanoi and French departments and cities and between Vietnam and France.

Nicolas will also discuss with his successor the continuation of cooperation with Hanoi in ongoing projects, particularly in urban development, urban railways and cultural heritage.

In the near future, the French Embassy will work with Hanoi to renovate the 124-year-old Long Bien Bridge over the Red River, the French ambassador added.

Nicolas also appreciated Hanoi authorities for their support during his term and expected to return to the country sometime to see more achievements.

For his part, Hanoi's Vice Chairman Tuan congratulated the French official on his achievements as French Ambassador to Vietnam.

Among the highlights are the 12th Vietnam-France Decentralization Conferenceprojects on preserving the Old Quarter, heritage conservation and tourism development, renovation of French villas, and French education.

Tuan promised that Hanoi would always work with the embassy to accomplish all joint tasks.
