First day of the 2015 national exams
Thu Minh 14:51, 2015/07/01
On July 1, more than 1 million students across the country officially sat for the 2015 national high school exams. In the morning, students are tested in mathematics and they take test in foreign language in the afternoon.
This year, students take only one national exam instead of separate high school graduation and university entrance exams.
The Ministry of Education and Training organised the national high school exam from July 1 to 4 in 38 testing centres throughout the country. Of which 9 testing centres of the national exam are held in Hanoi.

Exam results will be a consideration in both high school graduation and university admissions.
Students are tested in 4 subjects, 3 of which are compulsory subjects of mathematics, literature and a foreign language. The fourth is an optional subject, students can choose from physics, chemistry, biology, history and geography.
The students are allowed to take extra tests in other subjects for better chances of getting admission to the university or college of their choice.
Students have 3 hours to write well-composed answers in the mathematics, literature, history and geography tests. There will be 90-minute multiple-choice tests for physics, chemistry, biology and foreign languages.

It is estimated that over 60,000 university volunteers were present at testing centres, bus stations and in surrounding streets to help candidates get to their exam centres.
