Chairman of the Hanoi Photographic Artists ’ Association Dang Dinh An said the first festival was organised in 1978 in HCM City, then moved to Hanoi and Hue.
In the 2000s, the festival was discontinued, for some reason. Photographic artists ’ associations from the three cities have tried to revive the annual festival since 2011.
At the exhibition, photographers from the three sister cities of Hanoi, Hue, and HCM City are displaying 100 coloured and monochrome photos depicting daily life, changes in society, new urban development, and portraits of local people.
This year's exhibition showcases new vitality and changes in three big cities of Vietnam.
According to Chairman of the Hanoi Photographic Artists’ Association Dang Dinh An, this year's event has many changes in the organisation and selection of photos displayed. Although both Hue and HCM City has 30 photos, Hanoi with 40 photos, the quality of their photos has reached a lot of breakthroughs.
The exhibition is a result of the art photo festival in the three cities, during which local photographic artists’ associations selected the best new photos to display.
The exhibition introduces visitors to a glimpse at the changing life in these cities, through the lens of photographic artists, An said.
The photographers also tried to find out and discover new things, new perspectives, and changes arising in society in the three major cities.
HCM City, Hue and Hanoi seem more beautiful with many new construction projects through the works "Yellow Afternoon at Nhat Tan Bridge" by Truong Thi (Hanoi), or "Ho Chi Minh City has developed" by Tran Trong Anh, "Dawn on the Phu My bridge" by Vo Chi Trung (HCM City), and "Da Vien Night" by Nguyen Van Thanh (Hue).
Photographers captured daily life in three cities, cultural and art activities of the young and old, and the production processes of all walks of life.
Chairman of the Hanoi Photographic Artists’ Association Dang Dinh An shared that the exhibition makes a chance for photographic artists in these three cities to exchange and learn from each other.
At the same time, visitors can admire the beauty of life in three cities, each one different from the others, he added.
The exhibition runs until June 5.
