ExxonMobil Provides a total of US$80,000 support for VinaCapital Foundation’s Survive to Thrive program and Operation Smile Vietnam mission
ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Vietnam Limited (EMEPVL) announced that it will be making a contribution of US$50,000 to VinaCapital Foundation in support of its Survive to Thrive program which equips healthcare centers in Southern districts of Quang Nam with modern equipment and provides training for staff to better serve the communities in this mountainous region.
This year, eight hospitals in the Quang Nam province (Phu Ninh, Que Son, Hiep Duc, Tien Phuoc, North Tra My, South Tra My, Phuoc Son and Nong Son districts) will receive medical equipment for improved pediatric care. The critical care equipment, selected in consultation with both the district health departments and the provincial Department of Health leadership, will have a profound and measurable impact on child mortality in the province.

“The VinaCapital Foundation is grateful for ExxonMobil’s continued and generous support for neonatal and emergency care in central Vietnam,” said Robin King Austin, Chief Executive Officer of VinaCapital Foundation. “ExxonMobil has led the way in Vietnam by supporting this lifesaving program regionally in the central provinces. The Survive to Thrive program reduces infant mortality and morbidity in a measurable way, a national priority of the Ministry of Health. ExxonMobil’s contributions help save the lives of hundreds of children and adults every day.”
Since 2011, ExxonMobil has contributed a total of US$500,000 to VinaCapital Foundation through its Critical Response and Survive to Thrive programs. More than a million children in Danang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai have benefited from ExxonMobil’s contributions.

Early this month, ExxonMobil also provided Operation Smile Vietnam with US$30,000 in support of its mission to providing medical evaluation and treatments for children born with facial deformities in the central region of Vietnam. More than 100 children who are born with a cleft lip and/or palate benefit from Operation Smile Vietnam’s on-going mission in Quang Ngai province. All health care services – including consultations, treatments and medication – will be provided free of charge to these children from the central provinces of Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Kon Tum, Binh Dinh and Gia Lai. In addition, a dental care mission is also designed to provide dental screening, treatment and education for around 1,500 elementary students in the Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces.
Since 2014, ExxonMobil has contributed a total of US$185,000 to enable Operation Smile Vietnam to provide screenings and operations for more than 1.000 children born with facial deformities and helped change lives of more than 600 underprivileged children and families in Vietnam.
“ExxonMobil strives to make a positive contribution in the local communities where we operate,” said Greg Smith, president and country manager of ExxonMobil in Vietnam. “We believe the support of VinaCapital Foundation’s Survive to Thrive program and Operation Smile Vietnam will help build a brighter future for these underprivileged children.”
