The event aims to celebrate the Vietnamese Ao dai and Hanoi’s heritage in celebrations of National Day on September 2.

The "Ao Dai Connecting Tourism and Heritage" cultural program took place on September 1, 2024, in partnership of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Thang Long Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, and the Vietnamese Village Communal House Club.

Over 100 participants dressed in traditional Ao Dai took part in a 12.5-kilometer parade through the streets of Hanoi, visiting prominent landmarks such as the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the National Assembly House, the Presidential Palace, the North Gate, the Hang Dau Water Tower, Long Bien Bridge, Quan Chuong Gate, Dong Xuan Market, and the Hanoi Flag Tower.

The bicycle parade began at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and concluded at the Hanoi Flag Pole.

It attracted numerous officials from various agencies and residents in the capital.

According to Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the program, the second of its kind, aims to highlight the unique value of Hanoi's tourist destinations and stimulate local tourism.

"Cycling while wearing Ao Dai to explore iconic cultural heritage sites in Hanoi carries deep significance, as it uniquely and effectively connects tourism with heritage,” he stated.

Stella Ciorra, President of the Friends of Vietnam Heritage, shared, “I am very proud to wear the traditional Vietnamese Ao dai. As someone who loves and is passionate about exploring Vietnam's heritage, this journey will certainly provide me with a fresh perspective and a fascinating experience.

The event is a component of the upcoming “Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024” program that will take place from October 4 to 6 in Hanoi.
