Exhibition reenacts old-time Hanoi in Nguyen dynasty

The exhibition will start on November 22 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

The exhibition titled “Hanoi Citadel – Once an Imprint” will showcase photos and documents of Hanoi Citadel under the Nguyen dynasty and the French colonialist rule.

 The ancient Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in the past. 

The exhibition, which is jointly held by the Thang Long – Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center and the National Archives Center I, will be open to the public at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on November 22.

This is the first exhibition that shows the diversity of the Nguyen dynasty imperial documents and the French materials including images, maps, and drawings about the Thang Long- Hanoi Citadel.

"Citadel of Hanoi: Once an Imprint" aims to represent a vivid and sincere vision of Thang Long - Citadel of Hanoi under the Nguyen dynasty and the influence of the French colonial style on the ancient city (1802-1945). As a result, the values in terms of architecture, construction technique and urban planning of the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long will be proven once again.

The exhibition is one of the series of activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day, which falls on November 23.
