Excellent studentss of ethnic minorities praised in HCM city

Ethnic minority pupils were honoured at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh city on December 5 for the outstanding achievements they recorded at school in southern provinces in 2014.
The ceremony was co-organised by CEMA's Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh city in coordination with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA). 
 
 
 
The ceremony aims to motivate and encourage minority students to overcome obstacles to complete their studies and pursue higher learning.
Those students are typical examples of learning because their outstanding achievements they recorded at National Excellent Student Contest, national and international academic contests and the university entrance exams in 2014. 
The event is considered a meaningful activity because it helps them strive to become talents who dedicate themselves to building the country, especially mountainous and ethnic-inhabited areas.
This year 25 ethnic minority students in southern regions were honored.
Merit and scholarship worths VND 1.150.000 were given to pupils and students who win big in the national academic contests and got top marks in the university entrance examinations in 2014.
Among the students, the organizing board’s certification and scholarship worths VND 3.000.000 each were presented to those who won consolation prizes in the national academic contests and got top marks in the university entrance examinations 2013-2014. 
The Korean Business Association donated VND 9.000.000 to student who won a first prize in the national academic contests. Students who won second prizes received VND 6.500.000 each, and those who won third prizes in the national academic contests received VND 5.000.000 each.
The education and training work in mountainous and ethnic minority regions has been improved over the past time, with most of provinces and districts having ethnic boarding schools.
The ceremony was a chance for the students meet and share their academic experience and efforts to contribute to socio-economic development in Vietnam, and the ethnic-inhabited areas in particular.
