European Film Festival 2016 to showcase 13 best contemporary films
The European Film Festival 2016 (EFF), which is part of a broader series of “Europe Days 2016” events, will officially kick off in Hanoi on May 13, in Danang on May 14 and in HCM City on May 15. All films will be screened with English and Vietnamese subtitles.
Participating in the the European Film Festival 2016, film lovers in Vietnam will be enthralled by as many as 13 best contemporary films from EU member countries.
Films screened have encountered success in their country of origin and have won national and international awards.
Launched in 2000, the EFF has become a prominent annual cultural event in Vietnam. The festival has been considered to be a reliable bridge to bring new and captivating aspects of European culture to Vietnamese people.
The film festival introduces an European in-depth portrait, including its lifestyle, culture and traditions, helping to strengthen mutual understanding between Europe and Vietnam.
Through an array of films genres of drama, comedy, tragedy, and passion, this year's festival provides the excellence, innovation, and diversity of European cinema. It is also a chance for Vietnamese movie lovers to catch up on award-winning films.
“The world of the silver screen has no borders. No passports or visas are asked to take you from one country to another. Cinema has successfully shared diverse culture, people, histories and perspectives to audiences from across the globe in the past 100 years.
As the birthplace of cinematography and home to various prestigious international film festivals, Europe is famous for its cinematic heritage.
By maintaining the introduction European cinema in Vietnam, the European Union hopes to break down language and cultural barriers, aiming to draw people from across the spectrum of Vietnamese society. The European Film Festival is expected to be an excellent bridge to bring the people closer.” said Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam, Ambassador Bruno Angelet.
