Ethnic spring festival ready to kick-off in Hanoi

The annual spring festival featuring the cultural colours of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups as seen through their New Year celebrations is ready to open on February 12, according to the organizers.

The three-day event running through February 15 will be held at the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Culture and Tourism Village in Dong Mo District of the Hanoi suburb of Son Tay.

Folk games, folklore singing, cooking contests, sports competitions, gong jumping and dance performances along with a zillion other exciting events are planned, say the organizers. 

In short, a little bit of something for everyone, and they are expecting an extra-large attendance this year of festival goers showing up to jubilantly celebrate the new TET Lunar New Year of the Monkey.
