Hanoi Times – Vietnam Consumer Electronics Expo 2008 will take place from April 19-22 in Hanoi, organisers said on December 26.
The fair, the largest of its kind in the country, is being jointly organised by IDG Vietnam and the Hanoi ICT Association. Visitors will witness the latest IT developments.
There will be more than 200 stall, displaying hundreds of IT products, ranging from audio and digital imaging equipment to mobile electronics and games.
According to IDG Vietnam’s general director Le Thanh Tam, the expo will give exhibitors the chance to build invaluable business contacts.
Market research firm GfK Vietnam said the retail electronics market in Vietnam was worth an estimated US$ 3.1 billion this year, up 29.2 percent on 2006.
Turnover from household electronics and ICT products this year is expected to increase by 43 percent to around US$ 641 million and US$ 700 million, respectively.
GfK Vietnam estimated that each Vietnamese adult spent on average US$ 36.2 on electronics products in 2007, against US$ 28.4 last year.
Hanoian came out as the nation’s big spenders, with each adult splashing out an average of US$ 186 on electronic items this year, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with US$ 148 and Da Nang US$ 117.
