Direct Aid Programme to support central and southern provinces of Vietnam
By Bach Nhat 09:56, 2015/01/09
The Australian Consulate General in HCM City on January 7 signed a Direct Aid Programme (DAP) contract to provide more than AUD260,000 for 14 small-scale projects in 11 provinces in central and southern Vietnam.

In 2014-2015 the Australian Consulate General awarded grants to 14 projects in a variety of sectors from community healthcare to small-scale infrastructure development in Ben Tre, Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan, Vinh Long, An Giang, Khanh Hoa, Tra Vinh, Ca Mau and Quang Nam provinces and Can Tho and Ho Chi Minh cities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Consul General John McAnulty said DAP funded projects have helped improve living conditions of people from central to southern Vietnam over the past three years. Particularly, rural children have a chance to wash their hands with clean water. The goal of DAP is to address humanitarian hardship through funding small-scale development projects. DAP is part of the Australian Government’s total non-refundable aid of more than US$142 million for Vietnam in 2014-2015.
