DHL e-Commerce to cooperate with stores in Vietnam to open Service Point
DHL e-Commerce of Germany will cooperate with coffee shops, convenience stores and laundry services in Vietnam to open 1,000 DHL Service Points.
DHL e-Commerce has announced the decision to open DHL Service Points in Vietnam. At present, the company has around 100 service points, which is expected to expand to 1,000 service points in next year. These service points will be established based on the cooperation between DHL E-commerce and its partners. For example, the company is working with convenience stores Circle K to open a booth of DHL E-commerce right within Circle K. Online shop requiring DHL E-commerce service for shipment can go to these service points to send packages; on the contrary, customers waiting for packaged delivered by DHL E-commerce can go to the nearest service point for self pick up as an alternative.
CEO of DHL E-Commerce Charles Brewer said, “this model is shop in shop. With this kind of cooperation, we can expand our services in coffee shops, laundry services, convenience stores, as long as these stores have appropriate space for us to set up a booth. As such, this will help DHL E-Commerce to reduce cost, at the same time there will be more visitors coming to these stores, which will partially increase stores’ revenue”.
In difference to domestic delivery services and logistics companies to establish their own send/pick up points, DHL E-Commerce cooperates with enterprises with available spaces for rent. Charles Brewer said Vietnam currently has 1.2 million stores. Vietnamese customers are in favor of convenience and frequently go shopping and entertain at these stores. This is reason why DHL E-Commerce chose to work with these stores for a win-win situation. “Our partners will have more visitors, while DHL E-Commerce’s customers will have more options to pick up their packages at a location near their homes or workplaces” – CEO of DHL E-Commerce shared. “We hope to open up to 1,000 Service Points in the next year, or even more”.
As such, from now on, online shops can register services at DHL E-Commerce and send packages at the nearest DHL Service Point; the order will be processed in less than a minute without the need of any document. The operator in this Service Point will hand over all the packages through a smart phone application; meanwhile, online shoppers will receive verification code through message or email. The company also provide track and trace service, cash on delivery or package guarantee service.
CEO of DHL E-Commerce Vietnam Thomas Harris said, “Vietnam has more than 600,000 small and medium enterprises (SME), contributing to 97.5% of total operating companies in Vietnam with 40% GDP. These enterprises need logistics services, convenient and efficient transportation to distribute their goods to customers as quick as possible”. With more options for customers to pick up goods at service points, online shoppers will be more satisfied and thus facilitate the development of e-commerce in Vietnam.
Since officially launched in Vietnam in July, DHL E-Commerce starting with very few staffs have increased to 300 staffs. As of present, according to the CEO of DHL E-Commerce in Vietnam, the company has the lowest rate of packages returned among similar companies. 99% packages delivered by the company are accepted by customers.
At present, DHL E-Commerce services are covering of 40% provinces and cities of Vietnam, which is expected to be fully expanded to all over Vietnam by the next 6 months. The expansion of network of service points are a strategy decision for DHL E-Commerce to expand the market and customers.
