Da Nang welcomes 328,810 visitors during Lunar New Year holiday
Da Nang aims to welcome 8.19 million visitors throughout 2019, up 6.9% year-on-year, including 3.19 million foreigners, an increase of 11%.
The number of visitors to Da Nang during the Tet holiday (Lunar New Year) from February 2 to 10 is estimated at 328,810, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Of the total visitor, 158,328 were foreigners, up 19.9% compared to the same period last year. The increase of holidaymakers to Da Nang is also attributed to the recent operation of international air routes from Incheon, Busan and Daegu of South Korea to Da Nang, Osaka (Japan) - Da Nang, Bangkok (Thailand) - Da Nang, and Doha (Qatar) - Da Nang.
Arrivals by sea and air in the reviewed period recorded on-year increases of 140% and 69.8% respectively, while growth was also seen in the number of visitors from all five continents.
According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, attractive sites included the Cham sculpture museum, Ba Na Hills, Da Nang Museum, Than Tai mineral water park, Sun World Da Nang and Son Tra - Linh Ung pagoda. Deputy Director of the department Truong Thi Hong Hanh said this time is peak tourism season for the markets of China, Japan, South Korea, Europe and America, and Vietnamese expats.
The number of visitors to Da Nang in 2018 increased 15.5% on-year to an estimated 7.6 million, including 2.8 million foreigners, a 23.3% increase from a year earlier, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Of the total tourists to Vietnam's central city in 2018, 4.7 million were domestic holidaymakers, an 11.2% increase from 2017. Arrivals by sea and air in the reviewed period recorded annual increases of 66% and 48.7% respectively. Da Nang’s revenue from travel in 2018 is estimated at VN24 trillion (US$1.03 billion), representing an on-year jump of 23.3%.
