Hanoi will organize many cultural and sports activities to mark the 68th anniversary of Hanoi's liberation from the French occupation forces on October 10, 1954, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

Hanoi Open Dragon Boat Racing Festival 2022
The Hanoi Dragon Boat Racing Festival 2022 will take place on October 9 on West Lake, along Thanh Nien and Nguyen Dinh Thi streets.
The festival may attract the participation of 500 rowers, who are both professional and amateur groups, as well as boat-racing lovers from the relevant embassies, organizations, and businesses in Hanoi.
Being organized by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the annual event aims to preserve the folk sport and develop it into a tourist product.
The 10th Capital Sports Congress
The opening ceremony of the 10th Capital Sports Congress will take place at 8pm on October 7 at the Hanoi Athletics Palace in Nam Tu Liem District.
According to the organizers, there will be 6,500 athletes representing 41 sports teams to combat in 25 sports. The sporting event aims to promote sports practice among the community as well as to find talented young athletes for the sports industry of the capital.
Exhibition “Song of Triumph”

The display is organized by Hoa Lo Prison Relic Management Board to recreate the glorious fighting journey of Hanoi’s army and people during the years of resistance against the French (1946-1954) and to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The exhibition, which will last until the end of October, consists of three parts: “Persevering the Resistance”, “The Day of Victory”, and “My Hanoi”.
In addition to the display, the staff of the relic sites will represent the scene of old Hanoi mothers and charming girls in their ao dai to welcome soldiers, who come back from fierce battlefields.
Visitors to the Hoa Lo Prison relic on this occasion will have the opportunity to meet and talk to former political prisoners of Hoa Lo Prison and veterans who joined the troops to liberate the capital in 1954.
Photo Contest “Hanoi - Aspiration for Development”
The photo contest is organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day and the 50th anniversary of the Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu Victory in the Air (December 18, 1972 - December 18, 2022).
All Vietnamese and foreigners working and living in Hanoi are invited to participate in the photo contest that is valid until November 15.
The submissions, which are single photo collections, should focus on new and unique perspectives of Hanoi. Entries should also deploy the typical cultural values of the locality, affirming that Hanoi is a “civilized, humanize and modern" capital city of Vietnam.

The Hanoi Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Department of Publication, Printing, and Distribution organize the Hanoi Book Fair.
The Hanoi Book Fair 2022-themed “Traditions and Integration” will take place from October 7 to 9 at the Ly Thai To Flower Garden and the area surrounding Hoan Kiem Lake.
According to the organizers, the book fair aims to raise awareness of the importance of books in the community in Hanoi.
Hanoi Book Fair 2022 attracts the participation of local and international publishers with 200 to 250 booths introducing to reading lovers various genres of books, ranging from comic, novel, and literature to political literature.
In addition, other side activities including book launch ceremonies, book trading activities, and copyright exchange as well as book-related competitions will also be held.
In addition, various art performances will also be organized at the book fair to celebrate the 68th anniversary of Capital Liberation Day (October 10) and the 70th anniversary of Publication, Printing and Distribution Day (October 10).
