Commemoration of traffic accident victims touches people’s heart
On November 16, to commemorate victims of traffic accidents nationwide, a ceremony was organized in Hanoi by Vietnam’s National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC).
The event was also part of activities in response to the World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Road Traffic Accidents.
This is the third year the ceremony has been held in Vietnam.
At the beginning of the ceremony, participants observed a one-minute silence in honour of those who had died of traffic accidents.

Arts performances based on true stories and television reports were also be held during the ceremony.
It is estimated that 9,000 people die in road accidents every year and many others injure in Vietnam, which leaving victims’ family members and relatives deepest sorrow.

The event aims to commemorate traffic accidents victims as well as raise people’s awareness of the urgent issue in order to ensure not only their safety but also cummunity’s safety.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is also the NTSC Chairman, also called for people’s higher road sense: "For the development of the country, for the future of our children, and for the life of each individual, organizations, relevant agencies, businesses and comrades have to do what they can to make transportation in the country more civilized and more safer. Be more aware of, and be more responsible for themselves, and their families, so that fatal road accidents will never happen."
