According to Vietnam News Agency, in his speech delivered as soon as he arrived at the airport, Li said that China and Vietnam boast a long-lasting traditional friendship. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the relationship has developed strongly, the good friendship and neighborliness further reinforced, and the mutually beneficial cooperation deepened.

This is Li’s first diplomatic visit to Vietnam as Premier of China and the first official visit to Vietnam by a Chinese Premier in the past 11 years, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

The Chinese Premier's trip reflects the respect of the Chinese Party and State for Vietnam-China relations, the ambassador stated.

The visit coincides with Vietnam and China preparing for the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025). It follows state visits by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping to Vietnam in December 2023, as well as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam's visit to China in August. Additionally, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited China for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in June.

Li's visit also extends the tradition of high-level exchanges between the two Parties and two countries. It is an important event that promotes the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and develops the Vietnam-China community of a shared future upon the “six major goals.”

Li will meet with Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Vietnamese and Chinese top officials will discuss measures to implement the common perceptions reached by the leaders of both parties and states, as well as to fortify political trust.

The two government leaders will talk of specific solutions to improve two-way relations, deepen substantive collaboration, and benefit the two countries' people.
