China to track down the origin of fruits imported from Vietnam
Origin traceability will be official requirement for Vietnam fruit to enter Chinese market since April, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
Accordingly, regulators of Guangxi (China), following the local enterprises’ proposals, has recently required the origin traceability with the fruits imported from Vietnam to the province, reflected the MoIT.
Specifically, since April, Chinese enterprises importing fruit from Vietnam, have to provide “photos that include information of origin traceability” when register for quarantine certificate.
The information of origin traceability involves the fruit’s name, origin, name or code of the package factory in Chinese/English. The importers can have those information written on labels on the cargo package, along with code, QR code or anti-counterfeiting stamp for checking whenever available.
Hence, The MoIT notes that Vietnamese fruit exporters should actively cooperate with Chinese importers in completing customs clearance at China's border gates.
China emerges as the largest export market for Vietnam’s fruits with softer trade barriers over other countries. However, the country tends to tighten control recently, as warned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
At the moment, Vietnam is able to satisfy quarantine requirements set by 40 importing countries, including choosy ones such as the US, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Nonetheless, Vietnam’s fruit exports to the US, Japan, South Korea and Australia just account for only 10% of total export turnover, while the other 75% is from the Chinese market.
